My name is Grant. I’m a native English tutor from Great Britain (the South-East of England). A very clear and articulate speaker – quintessential English with no accent.

Lessons provided can be spoken/conversational English, grammar or vocabulary–based, or any combination thereof. I always try to carefully take into account the particular needs of each individual student and build a programme accordingly.

Most of my students are adults who typically have some prior knowledge of English – typically somewhere between levels A2-C1.

I have more than 150 carefully selected exercises (from quality resources, like “Cambridge English”) which cover every aspect of English grammar.

Grammar is important but so is learning new vocabulary (which is often neglected), so I’ve also compiled more than 60 vocabulary exercises, each of which is focused on a specific theme. It’s much easier to learn new words and phrases if they are related to the same topic.

I do have a few younger students but prefer to help children with an existing level of English proficiency (not from scratch) and co-host a children’s English-speaking club once a month. I generally only do face-to-face (in-person) lessons with children – not online.

One-off projects can also be undertaken. I enjoy writing and editing and can use these skills to help improve students’ career opportunities if an English language CV/resume is needed. I also helped write the English subtitles for a Russian historical documentary film – which was shown internationally.

I have an extensive background in professional services, the financial industry and sales, as well as some experience in legal services, and in IT – so can help people from a broad range of sectors who need to improve their business English skills.

Options for conducting lessons: Online (Google Meet, WhatsApp, etc.) or in person in Moscow at the student’s home, workplace, or at my home.

Generally, only English is spoken in my lessons, but conducting lessons solely in English will help a student to learn faster. My own level of Russian is only A2-B1. My conversational Russian isn’t so good, but I do understand Russian quite well.

Usually, I do the first meeting/session with a new student on an introductory basis (for free). This helps me to understand the student’s current level of English, what aspects of English the student wants to focus on, and what the student’s goals and expectations are. It’s also a good opportunity for the student to assess whether I’m the right tutor for them.
